Common Names
  • Crane Fly

Crane flies seem such delicate creatures because of their very long legs, even longer antennae, which this one has folded back over its body, and large wings compared to its body size.

Flying in a breeze must be particularly difficult and landings require the simultaneous anchoring of multiple feet on twigs which, at our scale, would be many metres apart. A neat achievement.
